Day 34 Broad Haven to Dale (18.6 miles, cumulative 558.9)
In contrast to recent weeks, the sun didn't put in much of a shift today and temperatures were pleasantly cooler. I left Broad Haven, quickly reached Little Haven, then an easy walk became more challenging by a long section of footpath which was overgrown. This presents additional risks - slipping into a small pothole or on loose rock, or being stung by nettles or brambles.
At St Brides I bumped into Antony and Sally, who are walking 6,000 miles around the British mainland over 12 months to raise money for the RNLI. In comparison, my journey seems like a stroll in the park!
Inside some public conveniences in Martin's Haven, a swallow had made its nest on top of the electricity meter.
The path became considerably easier after lunch, with few ups and downs and wide grassed walkways. I caught up with Steve, a recent retiree, who was walking the coast path for a few days. We shared stories of our respective walks, but I was in admiration of the fact that he was camping, rather than enjoying the comforts of a B&B. Talking of which, the kind lady at my guesthouse has offered to wash and dry my laundry - this was desperately needed!
