Day 32 Trefin to St David's (20.4 miles, cumulative 523.2)

Another superb walk along the clifftops, with fewer ups and downs than in recent days. First landmark was the historic harbour at Porthgain, then I passed next to a series of tantalisingly inaccessible coves displaying their tempting azure waters. I could hear grey seals below, but couldn't see them due overgrown vegetation. Eventually I rounded St David's Head and arrived at Whitesands Bay, where the full car park signified a well populated beach. Next stop St Justinian, which overlooks Ramsey Island, then around the headland, where the tidal currents could best be described as turbulent.

I left the coast path at Porth Clais and decided to treat myself to an ice cream, before attempting the two mile road hike uphill to my accommodation in St David's. However, after chatting with teachers and very polite pupils from a holidaying school group and facing a barrage of questions about my walk, I was kindly offered a lift to St David's. Sometimes it pays to stop for an ice cream!
