Day 31 Goodwick to Trefin (18.7 miles, cumulative 502.8)
I have something to Proclaim! I have walked 500 miles! It was another challenging 8-hour day with a full rucksack, but I made it.
The day started with a long, steep climb up the road to Harbour village, before the coast path broke free. Today's walk was rugged and remote, but truly spectacular. I passed Carregwastad Point, where in 1797 the last invasion of Britain took place. Luckily, the French were seen off by the locals, including some feisty Welsh ladies. The picturesque bay was now occupied by grey seals, basking in the warm sunshine.
A refreshing sea breeze was my friend for most of the day. After passing Strumble Head and lighthouse, the path undulated from shore to cliff, offering stunning views of rocky coves, crystal clear waters, tiny islands, and deserted beaches.
I finally reached my destination, the little village of Trefin, where I'm staying in my own private room at the independent youth hostel. Conveniently, the owner also runs the village pub - that's dinner sorted!
