Day 30 Newport to Goodwick (14.7 miles, cumulative 484.1)

I awoke to the sound of heavy rain. Was this the day I would finally unpack my waterproofs? I decided to delay the start of the walk and catch the later bus to Newport, giving me the much needed opportunity to wash some clothes.

It had stopped raining by 10.30 when I left for the bus stop, but more showers were forecast for the afternoon.

This was a day of intermittent mists, so the panoramas from above the rugged cliffs were limited, but the views down to sea level were stunning. With a light bag and assisted by cooler temperatures, I made good progress along the ridges. I stopped for lunch at the summit of Dinas Head, but the viewpoint offered only mist. Occasionally, the path would descend to little tranquil bays with pebble beaches, where kayaks would briefly call on their journey around the local coast.

Luckily, the afternoon showers didn't materialise and, when I returned to Goodwick, the waterproofs remained intact, extending my rain-free walking to 30 days.
