Day 27 Aberaeron to Llangrannog (17.8 miles, cumulative 433.8)
A tough day in the heat. After a good night's rest I left the picturesque town of Aberaeron and immediately reached the coast, which the path clung to for almost the entire day. Initially, the walking was easy, with a refreshing light breeze and stunning sea views. I walked along a lovely section of beach at New Quay and diverted into town for a cold drink. New Quay is the halfway point of the Wales Coast Path, but not for my journey as I'm also walking the Offa's Dyke path.
As temperatures hit 25° and the hill climbs increased, my progress slowed and drink stops became more frequent. By early afternoon my water supplies were lukewarm. I walked the last section with a walking couple, Simon and Jane, - we shared coast path stories and finished the day's walk with a visit to Llangrannog's pub. Another walking couple kindly drove me up to the main road and I just caught the bus to Cardigan, my base for the next two nights.
Friday night is pizza night, so a visit to the excellent Mannuccis restaurant was a must!
