Day 8 Cemaes to Valley (20.8 miles, cumulative 147.8)
A long walk ahead! Passed by Wylfa power station, then followed a desolate coastal stretch before reaching Cemlyn Bay, where the nesting Arctic tern were popular with bird spotters. After a lengthy section of ups and downs close to the cliff edge, the path descended to Church Bay, where a kindly resident, Tim, furnished me with a glass of iced lemonade and later made an online donation. Onward to Porth Trefadog, where I lunched on the beach and relaxed in the rarely absent sun.
I decided to divert from the coastal path and, following a defined footpath, climbed over a stile and....ended up in somebody's back garden. It turned out that it was indeed a right of way, but I was the first person to use it in 12 months. The couple offered me a glass of water and I offered my apologies.
I finally made it to my B&B in Holyhead, but unfortunately Holyhead doesn't do Sunday night dining. After a long day of walking, I had to make do with a pizza inside a kebab takeaway!
