Day 2 Bagillt to Prestatyn (18.4 miles, cumulative 37.1)
Nadine, the Cancer Research UK Relationship Manager, met me at the start of today's walk and joined me for the first section. I was carrying my homemade CRUK flag (a plastic banner attached to a collapsible walking pole) for the first time, but soon noticed that it was missing and had to retrace my steps for half a mile to recover it. I passed through the site of the former Point of Ayr colliery, spotting a few memorials to its mining heritage.
Much of today's walk was next to the sea or on the beach - the latter was hard work in the soft sand in against a strong breeze. Great views across the Dee estuary to the Wirral and the distant offshore wind farms.
I'm grateful for perfect walking conditions and a very flat route, just what I need for the first few days.
